Backyard Movie Night!!

Summer is drawing to a close

and what better way to spend those

last lazy days of summer

than an old fashioned movie night

in your own backyard!!

Renting Equipment
Contact an audio-visual rental business in your area or look online. They have all sizes of inflatable screens now.
Film Projector
It can be tricky to use unless you're experienced at it. An LCD projector is less complicated and more readily available. Be sure to ask the rental company for any safety considerations regarding outdoor use.
Run-Through
Consider testing the lighting, power, and sound the night before. Then, take care of everything technical before your guests arrive so the show is ready to go with the touch of a button. A technical delay will make the show run longer, and kids can get antsy quickly.
In Case of Rain
Have a back-up plan. If there are unexpected drops, unplug equipment at the source immediately and move it indoors.
Rent some classics or off-beat films to make the whole experience so much more special.

Something to wash it down

Lemonade

Fresh lemonade seems to be just the thing for picnics or barbecues, and making it couldn't be simpler. This perennial favorite requires just 3 ingredients: lemon juice, sugar, and water. This means it won't take much time away from a leisurely summer afternoon to mix a batch. To make 2 quarts, pour 3 cups of fresh lemon juice (from about 20 lemons) through a fine sieve into a pitcher. Add 2 cups of superfine sugar, and stir until it has dissolved. Stir in 4 cups of water and some ice, and then garnish with lemon slices.

  3. What a fun, FUN idea! I loved it all, but I would need to come to Canada to do this. We would be mosquito bait in Florida. ;-)

This really made me smile, Nerina... thanks!
