I'm in love...

I've discovered a wonderful new blog today. It is so inspirational that it makes me smile from ear to ear. Paula Prass is a fabric designer and she has some of the most fun fabrics, bright color combinations and whimsy...oh my gosh.
Please check her out at Show & Tell to feast on tons of eye candy.

The The Old Red Barn Co. is having the best giveaway ever....really. I love to sew and as I am re-entering this whole crafting world this would be the 'piece de resistance'.
A Janome 6600, This baby can do everything, short of cooking you dinner... I know, I know my chances are about 1500 to 1 but, what the heck, you never know.
The giveaway comes at the tail end of a 6 week tutorial on
how to make a quilt using Paula Prass fabric.
Do something creative today!!

Very Vintage Fourth of July

In May 2009, I somehow googled something one day, don't quite remember what and ended up in a blog that was so beautiful that I ended up spending most of the day going thorough it and all of the links attached. I thought to myself, WOW, look at this little world of creative people with fabulous attitudes and wonderful support for their blogging friends. I noticed that I kept seeing the word 'swap' popping up and so I investigated further and thought to myself, how cool would that be. I did not have a blog at this time and came across Heidi's 'Foxgloves, Fabric and Folly' blog. Oh my gosh she was announcing a swap that was yet to take place and well, I jumped right in with both feet and here I am with a blog and everything. Still negotiating my way around both. It has been just as much fun as I thought it would be. The blog authors are so warm and friendly, it's great.

So, I participated in Heidi's Very Vintage Fourth of July Swap. It was my first swap and I was really excited. My swap partner was Christine of 'A Work in Progress'. We had exchanged emails and she posted on her site what I had sent her. If you keep reading you will see what I received.

Let me just tell you, I was jumping up and down when I saw the box from the guy in the big brown truck. I was so excited, unfortunately I was heading out the door and had to wait until the next day to see all of my goodies.

As I live in Canada, we do not celebrate the 4th of July, but we do celebrate Canada Day which falls on July 1st and our colors are Red & White. This is where the extremely generous Christine focused one aspect of her goodies to me. This was more exciting then Christmas because you know what day that is and this was a total surprise and that makes it all the more exciting!!

Everything was so carefully wrapped in the most creative way. Look at the crackers, they were full of candy...I died. The Pinwheels were created with the prettiest paper ever. The red tub was full with red plates with the most adorable dots, red & white striped napkins and a vintage wooden block with an "N", adorable.

Look at these BBQ Folk, they are corn picks and they have the most adorable little butts

The linen napkins are so soft, is this "N" not so cute.

Four red and white paper lanterns will add a festive touch to my Canada Day party that I will now throw for anyone that will come. The butterflies are flowing all around the lanterns..darling!

This fabric banner is about 5 feet long and I already have it up. The fabrics are amazing. One package of red M&M's and one package of white M&M's, plus a large bag of Jelly Belly's.....yummy!

At this point, my son was trying to calm me down as I was jumping up and down and going crazy. I still had this awesome metal trunk case to open. On the top it was embellished with the most amazing medallions and look at the front, a crackled "N".......Oh yeah!! I had no idea what I was to expect and when I finally opened it, I nearly passed out...no....seriously!!

What a generous person. This is crazy. It was full of Tim Holtz distress goodies. I really needed a sedative at this point. There are Distress Stickles glitter, Alcohol Inks, Distress Crackle paint, Alcohol Ink Applicator, antiqued embellies, tags, plus tons of chipboard shapes and so much more... insane. I am going to be busy.

The wonderful stamp has a chandelier and birds and scrolling, I can hardly wait to crack it open. There was also a journal that I am going to try and make into a distressed journal book....Christine you are awesome....have I mentioned that already. The pictures that I took do not do justice to all of these wonderful goodies. What did I do in life to be so spoiled.

I am still in awe at the items that I received and hope that Christine will enjoy some of the items that I sent to her. This swap was so much fun, yet frustrating at the same time as it was my first and I was really not comfortable with what I was doing. At the end of the day, I just want Christine to be happy, because she was the most kind and generous person that I know and she was the one that made this experience so enjoyable for me. Please visit her and say hi.

Do something Creative and have a fabulous day !!

I know I will, Thanks so much Christine!!

Grade 8 Graduation

Tomorrow is the last day of school for my son.

He will be completing grade 7 and is being promoted to Grade 8...

Congratulations Andrew....good job buddy!!!

Happy Summer !!

Tonight I will be helping out at the Grade 8 Graduation, the parents of the grade 7's help out with the graduation of the grade 8's so that the parents may enjoy themselves and be totally present at the celebration!!

This is a tradition and we will be able to enjoy this event ourselves next year.

I will be handing out punch during the dance and then assisting with the clean up.

I can hardly wait to see all of the kids that I have known since they were little all dressed up and getting ready to go to High School. All of their proud parents with the cameras and videos to document this wonderful milestone.

This is such an exciting time for these young adults.

I wish them well in the next step of their journey through life.

Have a fantastic day everyone!!

Well-Being Wednesday !!

Hey there people, how are we all doin' today

During my browsing this morning I came across this wonderful post reflecting on taking it easy from the rather large burden we all seem to bear.
I hope Lisa at The Mental Mom does not mind, but I thought I would share this with you as it really made me take a moment:

1 . Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk to the Angels/god/goddesses/buddha/allah/the sky, about what is going on in your life. Buy a lock if you have to.

3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to__________ today. I am thankful for______________'

4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.

6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

9. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

11. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

12. You are not so important that you have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

14. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: “In five years, will this matter?”

17. Forgive everyone for everything.

18. What other people think of you is none of your business.

19. Time heals everything - but you may have to ask a power greater than yourself to help.

20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

21. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch!!

22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

23. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for__________. Today I accomplished_________.

24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

25. When you are feeling down, start listing your many blessings. You'll be smiling before you know it.

I know that we all receive this type of chain mail and often just click delete.

I feel that sometimes we should pay attention, be present in the moment and see what that brings us.

Namaste !!

Have a really great day!!

Hugs, Nerina :)

Happy Pink Saturday !!

You know, Pink is such a pretty color, we usually associate it with Cotton Candy, Ballet Slippers, Bubblegum... but, mostly with all things Girly.

Well, as we get more mature, we can also experience pink wherever the heck we like, because we are in charge and if we want to pave our driveway pink....you know what, we could, I mean if we wanted to....not that I have seen or even heard of a pink driveway, but we could, if we wanted to.

Sit back and enjoy the tour of all of these pink delights

Cherry Blossoms blown by the wind, I wish the petals stayed a while longer

I love the reflection of the home in the water

Green, Pink and White....a feast for the eyes

They must use a really good fertilizer

Million Bells hanging on the porch, a colorful first impression

Sit down and enjoy some lemonade with this lovely pink cake

Come on in and get out of the sun

Have a seat

Blissful pink accents

Peak inside of this pink armoire at all of the goodies

Don't you love the pink 'N' on the desk

Where is the bubble bath

Don't forget to take a little something with you on the way out

I really appreciate you visiting me today, for more beautiful Pink Saturday Eye Candy please head over to
