Thankful Thursday !!

~
Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time
out of your busy, busy lives to visit with me today!

I am thankful to all of you for exposing me to
all of your talent and creativity,
as well as all of your continued encouragement.

I have not crafted in many years
and this blogging community
has re-fueled this passion in me.

I have participated in a couple of swaps over
the past few months
and they have been the most fun.

I have just received my latest treat in the mail
and I thought I would share it with you.

The name of this swap was 'The Rococo Fan Swap' ,
I know, cute idea!!

This was hosted by 'Sonia' at 'Vintage Rose Designs'.
Here is the link to the Flickr site
to see more of these charming creations.

Below is the fan that I sent to my
swap Partner Marianne of 'Songbird is Nesting'
in the Netherlands.

This was a challenge as I had never made a fan before.
I found some newspaper from 1951
that had a full page add for Perfume,
I thought this would be a cute idea, nevermind that the paper was pink...
...really, I guess in those days the coverpage was pink
while the rest of the paper was manila coloured.
I added some gold ribbons and lace and voila...
...it turned out really cute and I hope Marianne likes it.

The front view, when the fan is closed
the flower is on the front panel only

This is the fully extend fan, see the pretty pink paper,
if you look closely you can see all of the
different perfume bottle styles.

The back view actually looks much darker in the photo,
it is really much paler with a golden sheen.
I attached the beads on the right corner of each blade
so that the fan has something to keep
all of the blades together when you open it

This is the gorgeous fan that arrived
on my doorstep all the way from the Netherlands

Isn't this romantic....the colors are lovely,
look at the beautiful ribbons

The fully extended front of the fan.
Marie inspired with the charming music paper and roses.
It was embellished with jewels,
so hard to see because my camera
is not very good
(something for my Christmas list for sure)
Love it!!!

The back was bejeweled as well
and done in the most devine vintage cream wallpaper
with lace to keep the blades together

Isn't she elegant. Thanks so much Marianne!!

This swap was so much fun,
I now have to complete two more swaps.
A 'Trick or Treat' swap and a 'Spooky Apron' swap.
Gotta pull out the sewing machine and get to work.

I hope you enjoyed these treats as much as I did.

What are you thankful for on the gorgeous Thursday!!

Hugs xOxO, Nerina :)

  10. You have a knack for nic nacs. Not a mania at all. If one of two nic nacs gets broken, What's left? A nic or a nac? just wondering.
